Guide in Flawlessly Applying False Eyelashes Like Pro

All the tips and tricks needed in preventing your corners from pulling up.

Despite your best efforts to develop those lash babies and your search for the best mascara available, you will only get crazy Bambi-like lashes with a quality set of artificial eyelashes, unless you are extremely fortunate. But as you can imagine, applying false eyelashes can make or break your big night out. Trust us, we’ve been there.

We’ve all been there: the pre-drinks are going well, you’ve assembled an entire floor wardrobe of inadequate ensemble choices, and to make things worse, your strip lashes are stubbornly falling out. The music pauses, fear sets in, and before you know it, the party mood that you spent so much time perfecting is gone, along with the halo eye you worked so hard to create. Why are your false teeth betraying you in this way when you felt like you done everything perfectly, even using the lash glue you splurged on?

Unfortunately, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to fake eyelashes. Unless you want to find yourself needing the assistance of a stranger in the club restrooms at midnight, that is. You can’t just throw some glue in your bag, head out the door, and hope for the best.

When applying false eyelashes, there are a lot of variables to consider. These include the shape of your eyes, the method you use to remove the lashes from their box (please, never just pull them out), and that’s without even talking about cutting and applying adhesive.

Although it may sound overwhelming, we assure you that after you’ve learned these really easy tricks, you won’t want to use them.

Take into Account the Contour of your Eyes.

The false lash aisle in Boots is scary, as we’ve all witnessed. It might be extremely daunting to choose from so many different styles, but knowing your eye shape will help you focus your options. Below are the following eye shapes that could help you pick.

Deep-Set Eyes give the appearance of having a more prominent brow bone since they are positioned farther into the skull. Consider using lashes with a larger length in the middle of the lashes.

Prominent Eyes – when your eyelids seem protruded in the area of your eye socket, you have prominent eyes. Consider using strip lashes on the bottom to balance your top lashes and create the appearance of pulling your eyes back.

Downturned Eyes – eyes that appear to be downturned when the outer corners are drawn downward. To raise your eyes, try using a shorter strip lash that is longer in the outer corners.

Hooded Eyes – when the crease in your eyelid is hidden, you have hooded eyes. Try a shorter length, thin strip lash.

Next Steps After Determining your Eye Shape

Measure Your Lashes – to see if the strip lash needs to be trimmed to size, place it along your lash line. The strip should begin where the bulk of your natural eyelashes begin; starting too near the inner corner can cause irritation to your eyes. Go to the outer corner and count 2-4 lashes inward to indicate where your strip lashes should terminate. Keep in mind that leaving them hanging down can make the eyelids drop.

Trim Lashes to Fit – If you must trim your lashes to make them fit properly, always cut at the vein rather than cutting through the lashes. Start at the outside edge.

Prevent Lash Pop – when applying lashes, they can occasionally pop up at the inner or outer corners because they flattened when they were in the box. Isn’t that annoying? In order to prevent this, roll your lashes around your finger, a cosmetic brush, a pen, or a cotton bud, then let them sit for a minute. This will help the lashes maintain their natural curl.

Applying the Lash Glue Correctly – when applying lashes, they can occasionally pop up at the inner or outer corners because they flattened when they were in the box. Isn’t that annoying?
